Music in ChristChurch
Two music recitals are planned for Sunday 5th November and Sunday 7th January each at 2.30pm for just under an hour. The first will be with Jenny Walker, well known pianist, entitled Autumn Leaves. A retiring collection will be for Church funds.
Jenny originally hails from Southampton but has lived in Grantham for several years. She has a music degree from the University of North Wales in Bangor and a performance diploma from the Guildhall School of Music. She is currently musical director for Grantham Singers and accompanist for the Belvoir Wassailers, a male voice choir. She runs a successful teaching practice at home and is a piano tutor at Kesteven and Grantham Girls School. Jenny is a versatile performer who has played for singers and instrumentalists, string groups, swing groups and theatre groups. She believes in flexibility and enjoys a variety of musical activities, including playing fiddle in a ceilidh band. Jenny is delighted to take part in this concert at Christchurch and will play a varied programme, including classical and ragtime pieces. As well as performing pieces by others, she writes piano music and has had several pieces published by the US distributor Piano Pronto. She will as part of the programme, include a couple pf Celtic-style compositions of her own.
